San Antonio, TX, November 1, 2006 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- TerraWave Solutions, a division of TESSCO Technologies Incorporated (Nasdaq: TESS), today introduced an Integrated Antenna & Access Point Enclosure which offers a flexible, three-in-one outdoor solution -- a Cisco® 1242 Access Point and a high gain directional antenna designed to withstand harsh environments and extreme weather conditions. Two new integrated units are available in a 2.4 GHz, 19 dBi and a 5 GHz 23 dBi model.

This innovative solution is the only product on the market with a high-gain antenna that is FCC Certified to work with the Cisco 1242 AP.

This enclosure was designed specifically for outdoor 802.11 (Wi-Fi) networking and bridging applications. TerraWave's Cisco® 1242 AP Integrated Enclosure solution simultaneously provides bridging, local coverage and wireless backhaul. This combination of flexible features makes the Integrated Antenna & Access Point Enclosure a cost effective alternative for outdoor bridging deployments.

"The Integrated Unit gives Cisco wireless LAN customers a very easy and cost effective outdoor WLAN and bridging solution," said Chris Marco, TerraWave Solutions business unit leader. "As a Cisco Strategic Technology Integrator (STI), TerraWave developed this innovative product to further enhance the deployment options available to system integrators."

Built with a ruggedized and weatherized enclosure to withstand extreme weather conditions, additional features of TerraWave's integrated unit include: integrated and weatherized Ethernet connections, supports the latest encryption standards including AES, two RPTNC bulkhead connectors and 802.3af PoE is available.

Both 2.4 and 5 GHz units are easy to install and come standard with an articulating pole mount. Weighing 7 lbs, these solutions are much lighter than traditional enclosures and require only Power Over Ethernet, eliminating the need to run 115V power.

The new integrated unit is now available for sale in the U.S. and is approved by Cisco Systems and certified by the FCC.
